Biographical or Historical Information

The University of Texas at Tyler Department of Business Affairs is comprised of a multitude of departments which fall into five major divisions, all supporting the academic mission of the campus: Business Operations, Enrollment Management, Facilities Managemet, Financial Management, Marketing & Public Affairs, and Auxiliary Services. The Department of Business Affairs first appeared as the Department of Fiscal Affairs with the creation of Tyler State College in 1971. John R. Sawyer served as Vice President for Fiscal Affairs for all three incarnations of the university, working from 1973 through 1981.  In 1982 the department name was changed to the Department of Business Affairs.Note written by Aaron Ramirez

Abstract

Documents in this collection were collected or created by the Department of Business Affairs, University of Texas at Tyler. Materials include but are not limited to operating budgets for UT Tyler and the University of Texas System, audits conducted by UT Tyler, the UT System, and the State of Texas, correspondence regarding the UT Master Plan, and renovation and construction plans for the UT Tyler University Center, Barnes & Nobles bookstore, Art Studio, Ratliff Engineering Building, and the UT Tyler Palestine Campus expansion. Included with final accepted project plans are bids and plans from contractors and architects competing for these jobs.

Materials were sent to the UASC by Kay Smith, Business Affairs Department Senior Administration Associate.

Separated Materials

A Spring 2007 issue of UT Tyler Magazine was placed in Box 18 Folder 1 of  the Marketing and Communications Collection and a Planned Giving Department brochure was moved to Box 5 Folder 3 of the University Advancement Collection.

Processing Information

Materials were found in four "banker's boxes" and organized into eleven archival boxes, topically and chronologically.
