Scope and Contents

This records group comprises official materials and accompanying correspondence related to the fiscal activities of the University of Texas at Tyler and its predecessors (Tyler State College and Texas Eastern University) from 1973 through the present. Materials include annual budgets, financial reports, operating budgets, internal working budgets, detailed operating budgets, and financial statements with supportive schedules. The collection also includes select budget records and reports from the University of Texas System between 1981 and 2004 (1981-1983, 1989, 1996-1997, 2000-2002, 2004).

Biographical or Historical Information

These records were compiled by the Business Office of the University of Texas at Tyler and its predecessors with the approval of the senior campus fiscal authority and the respective Board of Regents. For Tyler State College(1973-1974) the Business Manager compiled budgets and financial statements for the Vice President for Fiscal Affairs, to be approved by the Tyler State College Board of Regents. For Texas Eastern University (1975-1979), the Chief Accountant compiled budgets and financial statements for the Business Manager and Vice President for Fiscal Affairs, to be approved by the Texas Eastern University Board of Regents. For the University of Texas at Tyler (1979-present), the Budget Office compiles budgets and financial statements for the Office of Business Affairs (under the Vice President for Business Affairs), to be reviewed by UT System budget authorities and approved by the UT System Board of Regents.Note written by Samantha Winn

Custodial History

These materials originated in the Budget Office of the Fiscal Affairs/Business Affairs division of the University (with the exception of UT System materials, which originated with the UT System budget authority). Materials dating before approximately 2005 were transferred to the Office of Physical Plant from the President's Office before being accessioned by the University Archives. Materials dated since approximately 2006 were transferred directly to the University Archives from the Budget Office, unless otherwise noted.

Source of Acquisition

The University Archives received these materials from the Office of Physical Plant as part of a general university records acquisition.

Accruals and Additions

The University of Texas at Tyler Budget Office continues to add materials to this collection on a regular basis. Additional operating budgets, financial statements, and budget requests from the Office of Institutional Analysis were added 4/21/15.
