Texas Association of College Teachers
Scope and Contents
Founded in 1948 the Texas Association of College Teachers is an organization committed to protecting the interests of the faculty of institutions of higher learning in Texas and to influence help pass legislation conducive to the advancement of higher education. Dr. Martin became a member of the TACT early in his career at The University of Texas at Tyler. He wrote numerous articles that appeared in TACT newsletters and made presentations at many TACT conferences. Martin served as UT Tyler Chapter and State Board President and is currently a Director-At-Large. This series contains correspondence and memoranda, materials obtained from TACT conventions and workshops, TACT newsletters, drafts of policy statements, and drafts of articles written by Martin for publication or presentation. Martin's main focus while a member of the TACT was distance education, intellectual property rights, tenure review, and faculty salary. Dates of the materials range from 1979 to 2010.
